Germantown honors local students and celebrates EuroFest donation to Madonna Learning Center

Germantown, Tenn. — The Board of Mayor and Aldermen recognized student achievements and charitable giving at its Nov. 24 meeting, presenting the Germantown Education Commission's November awards and acknowledging a EuroFest donation to a local learning center.
Alderman Sherry Hicks and members of the Germantown Education Commission presented the November 2025 Exceptional Student Award to Germantown High student Felipe Sevilla, praising his leadership, volunteer work and participation in Best Buddies and Special Olympics. The commission described Sevilla as a role model who "greets everyone with enthusiasm and consistently brings a positive attitude to school."
The commission also presented the November 2025 Youth Excellence Award to Houston High senior Lindsay Baker, highlighting academic distinctions (a reported perfect 36 on the ACT, National Merit recognition and AP Scholar honors), leadership roles in Model UN and Youth and Government, and volunteer service.
Mayor and board members also noted the 41st Memphis EuroFest car show (held Oct. 4) drew over 160 cars and raised funds for local charities; event organizers and Madonna Learning Center representatives were invited forward to accept a check. The mayor specifically named Madonna Learning Center as a recipient of EuroFest fundraising.
"Congratulations, Felipe," one board member said during the presentation, and the mayor thanked the students and their families for representing the community. The board invited photographs outside the chambers following the presentations and noted a teacher of the month will be presented at the next meeting.
