Hibbing council awards multiple 2026 public‑works contracts, cites budget savings

Councilors approved awarding the contract and expressed confidence in the contractor because several staff had worked with the previous lining contractor.
Storey also reported a low quote of $70,366.50 from Golis Incorporated for a sidewalk project (budgeted at $75,000), a city striping quote of $38,346.03 (within the $55,000 painting budget), and a Snyder Refuse quote of $42,850 for 100‑gallon refuse containers (budgeted at $45,000). The council approved all the procurement items by voice votes.
Councilor Whitney asked about bear‑proof container options; Storey said the city can procure steel, front‑load bear‑proof containers and promised to return to council in mid‑April with pricing and a formal quote.
