Board recommends certificate of appropriateness for 104 East Main Street façade repairs

Gail, a HARP board member, moved that the board recommend issuance of a certificate of appropriateness for 104 East Main Street to permit façade repairs, and the board carried the motion.

The recommendation covers replacement of damaged wood elements "to match existing profiles/dimensions," maintaining the glass transom, replacing damaged storefront glass to match current dimensions, installing gooseneck light fixtures at the storefront ends, and epoxy-stabilizing a cracked mosaic entry. Amy Beatty, the applicant and architect, told the board she included a photo that shows the mosaic crack and clarified the work would stabilize the tile rather than replace the entire floor. "There is a crack that kind of spans the full width of it. So we are proposing to... make sure that the crack is stabilized, with epoxy," Beatty said.

Beatty also asked the board to disregard an erroneous page in the application packet: "I did wanna make a note in the application material to just discard page 9. That was a page from a different application that was included in this in error." Board members requested that replaced wood match existing profiles and that the transom glass remain.
