Summary
Dr. Hubbard presented the district’s draft special-education plan, saying it will be posted on the district website for a 30-day public comment period before a revised version returns to the board for approval and submission to the state.
The Wilson SD board heard a presentation on a draft special-education plan required every three years under Chapter 14 of the Pennsylvania Code. Dr. Hubbard told the board the draft summarizes programs, services, policies and procedures and that the district has already held two stakeholder feedback sessions.
"That draft plan... will be posted on our publicly available Internet website according to the PA code, for 30 days for review, by the public," Dr. Hubbard said, announcing the public-comment period will begin tomorrow. After the 30-day review, the administration will revise the plan to reflect submitted comments and return a final version to the board for a vote before the district submits it to the state, Dr. Hubbard said.
Dr. Hubbard credited the work of Dr. Erin Squibb and a team of supervisors who led stakeholder engagement on the plan and said the posting and comment period are required by state regulation. Board members thanked Dr. Hubbard and noted the information sessions were informative.
The board did not take formal action on the plan at this meeting; the item was informational with a stated next step of posting the draft for public comment and returning a revised plan for approval.
