A volunteer fire department representative asked the board to acknowledge the department's intent to enter a lease-purchase agreement with HomeTrust Bank to replace aging apparatus, and commissioners approved the request on March 16.
The presenter said the department plans a lease-purchase for up to $550,000 with a $75,000 down payment to acquire a 2026 Kenworth pumper produced by US Pump Company. "The current quote on it is $621,631," the representative said, and described expected performance: a 3,000-gallon tank and 1,500 gallons-per-minute pump designed to serve the community for 25 to 30 years.
The representative detailed financing terms: an 18-year fixed-term arrangement with annual payments of about $46,936.44. Commissioners asked questions, then a motion to approve the request was made, seconded and carried on a voice vote.
The board recorded the approval; staff will proceed with lease documentation and acceptance conditions.
