Fargo school board adopts policy to guide participation in property tax exemptions and incentives

The Fargo Board of Education on March 10 adopted a new governance policy (GP‑15) to guide whether and how the district participates in property tax exemptions and other incentives, the board said.
The policy, introduced by Vice Chair Jason Nelson and developed by the planning committee over several months, establishes a process and criteria the board will use when asked to approve TIFs, PILOTs or other incentive agreements. Nelson told the board the goal was to provide predictability for developers while preserving the board’s ability to evaluate projects over the longer term.
