Henderson council approves land-sale notices, marketing agreement, appointments and routine resolutions

At its May 20 meeting the Henderson City Council approved several routine but consequential items in a single session.
Staff described a notice of intent to sell approximately 4.78 acres northwest of Saguaro Street by public auction, with a minimum bid set at $3,385,000; advertising begins May 9, and online bidding is scheduled July 21–23. The council later approved a property marketing and management agreement with Commercial Real Estate Exchange, Inc. (CREXI) to manage the online auction and receive a 2.5% fee at closing.
The council also confirmed several appointments: John Day to the Citizens Transportation Advisory Board; Stacy Martini to the Civil Service Board; Neil Samson to the Development Services Center Advisory Committee; Councilwoman Monica Larson as an alternate to the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition; and Jim Giordano to the Regional Flood Control District citizens advisory committee. Each appointment was approved by unanimous vote.
David Weiser, assistant director of finance, presented a resolution delegating budget and award authority for grants and philanthropic funds to the city manager or designee to improve the city’s ability to accept and implement awards in a timely manner; the council approved the resolution unanimously.
Finally, the council ratified a $50,000 charitable donation to Nevada Grama Lab to build nonprofit capacity in Southern Nevada, and referred bill 3836 (an amendment to Henderson Municipal Code chapter 15 on development services fees) to the May 20 committee meeting for further consideration.
