Council member says e‑bike ordinance is in progress; Clark County ordinance cited as model

"Chief sent me a proposed ordinance that I've been working on," Councilman Adam said, adding that he met with city attorneys from Henderson, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Las Vegas to compile approaches and that the issue is more nuanced than initially expected.
Councilman Ennis noted Clark County has adopted a comprehensive ordinance that includes a $150 fine per incident assessed to a parent in specified circumstances and suggested Mesquite could consider similar enforcement elements.
Council members agreed the ordinance drafting is in process and staff will continue to coordinate with legal counsel before bringing a formal ordinance to the council for consideration.
No ordinance language was adopted at the Feb. 3 meeting; discussion was limited to the drafting process and comparative models from other jurisdictions.
