The chair proposed forming a short-term rentals committee and asked that each council member appoint at least one member and that the committee include at-large positions to evaluate short-term rentals in Mesquite.
A council member (S3) suggested the council consider a special committee, allow public comment on the item and then, if desired, have the council make a motion to form it. Another council member (S4) moved to add the short-term rentals committee item to next week's agenda; the motion was seconded and approved by the council during roll call.
No committee members were appointed at the technical review meeting; the action was to add consideration of the committee to the City Council agenda for the subsequent meeting. Council members said appointments would come from individual council members and include some at-large seats, and the item will return so the council can solicit public comment and consider a formal motion.
