Weld County proclaims ‘Highland Huskies Day’ after state wrestling title

A coach who addressed the board described the season as tightly contested and praised the athletes’ preparation and the contribution of every match. Commissioner Jason Maxey congratulated the team and coach, calling the recognition an opportunity to celebrate student achievement in Weld County.
The chair read a formal proclamation that summarized the team’s accomplishments and noted that Jake Vara was named Colorado High School Activities Association coach of the year. The commissioners invited the athletes and coaches forward for photos and brief remarks before returning to regular business.
