Edinburg CISD and learning.com recognized for districtwide digital-literacy and keyboarding gains

Rachel Minton, customer success manager for learning.com, and district instructional-technology staff presented awards recognizing campuses and individuals for implementing TEKS-aligned digital-literacy curriculum and for measurable keyboarding gains.
Minton said more than 21,000 students across 43 campuses completed roughly 2,100,000 exercises, with a districtwide average score of 85 percent. "Students aren't just meeting the requirements," Minton said. "They're building the skills to create, to lead, and to shape the future." She cited campus-level growth examples: Villareal Elementary's 8.6-point math gain, Eisenhower's 11.4-point reading gain, and Brewster's 23.3-point science gain on relevant measures.
The board also recognized principals and instructional-technology contacts at campuses that led the district in keyboarding practice minutes and words-per-minute growth. District staff said keyboarding skills are being prioritized to reduce a barrier to performance on redesigned state assessments and to allow students to focus on demonstrating content knowledge.
Trustees congratulated recipients and noted the potential instructional benefits of improved digital literacy and typing fluency for statewide assessments.
