County clerk reports 1,056 primary ballots; post‑election hand counts show no discrepancies

The county clerk reported that 1,056 ballots were cast in the primary, with 934 for Republican candidates and 122 for Democratic candidates. The clerk said precinct-level totals included 274 Republican and 24 Democratic ballots in Box 1 (710 registered voters), 238 Republican and 26 Democratic ballots in Box 4 (704 registered), 197 Republican and 39 Democratic ballots in Box 10 (616 registered) and 225 Republican and 33 Democratic ballots in Box 12 (711 registered)."We had, a total of 1,056 ballots cast as democratic and republican," the clerk said.

The clerk told the court that the county reconciled mail, early and election‑day vote counts by polling location and that the checklists matched the ballots cast: 38 mail ballots, 545 early votes (at Rotan and the clerk's office), 156 votes at the district courtroom site, 96 at the fellowship poll, 135 at the community center and 86 at the school site. "All of those, the amount of people who checked in at that polling place match the amount of ballots cast at that polling location," the clerk said.

The clerk said the Secretary of State's office designated state races for hand counts, including the U.S. Senate and attorney general contests; the county also hand‑counted the sheriff race by local choice. The clerk reported the post‑election hand‑count audit for both parties is complete and that "there were no discrepancies." The clerk added that three people performed the hand counts and that election judges completed required paperwork and reconciliations before leaving.

The clerk also noted a staffing transition: she praised election staff and singled out Jessica for successfully overseeing the election process. The clerk reminded members that early voting at the clerk's office will run 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the designated Friday and emphasized the primary is administered under party rules rather than by the county.

The clerk’s report provided the meeting’s most substantive accounting of turnout, recount procedures and the audit outcome; the court did not record any formal objections to the figures during the session. The clerk said she intends to continue mentoring staff to ensure continuity for future elections.
