Board approves $6,000 Vermillion Advantage membership despite fiscal objections

The Danville CCSD 118 Board voted 5-2 to continue its membership with Vermillion Advantage at an annual cost of $6,000.
Staff described the organization’s work on college and career planning, workforce development, and career-technical education (CTE) partnerships and said membership includes the Vermillion Advantage magazine.
Supporters said the partnership helps align high-school programming with community workforce needs. At least one trustee said fiscal concerns motivated a no vote: "I love Vermillion Advantage ... but when I vote no, it's because of my fiscal concern," the trustee said.
The motion to approve the membership passed on roll-call 5 to 2.
