Commissioners reviewed upcoming public events and outreach tied to National Preservation Month and related programs.
Heather, the planning department representative, said the downtown enhancement grant press release is ready pending a web application link and confirmed the arrival of North Maple District signs. The commission discussed programs to promote History Lives Here month, including a scavenger hunt (for which the commission approved $100 in downtown dollars), indoor tours, and pedal-bike tours that will run with several iterations in April and May.
A member outlined proposed pedal-bike tour dates and route changes designed to allow a stop on Main Street and additional historical stops (including discussion of a windmill and stone apartment buildings). Joe Steinmetz was named as the operator who could bring up the pedal bike from Findlay if additional capacity is required. Commissioners emphasized the need to finalize program descriptions and links so items can be included in a coordinated press release.
The commission also discussed coordination with the Wood County Museum and local library for lecture series and family-history programming and agreed to advertise scheduled events in local media once descriptions and links are available.
