The Bowling Green Historic Preservation Commission approved a $100 purchase of downtown dollars to support a History Lives Here scavenger hunt and discussed several outreach and preservation projects at its regular meeting.
Heather, the planning department representative, told the commission the downtown enhancement grant press release is ready once a web application link is finalized and asked the commission to formally approve spending $100 in downtown dollars as prizes for the scavenger hunt. Ryan Rotherbuehler moved to approve the $100 expenditure; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote with members answering “aye.”
The chair also reviewed administrative items, including the next regular meeting scheduled for April 28 and a proposed special public meeting with the "Friends of the HPC" to solicit input on the commission’s strategic plan and façade enhancement grant. Commissioners tentatively set a public meeting for Saturday, April 25 at 1 p.m., with an outdoor site (Junipers back area) suggested as a location.
Members noted a looming deadline for one state marker program (legends and lore markers), due April 27; because the commission’s regular meeting falls April 28, members were asked to forward marker ideas to the chair by email so staff can submit applications on time. Heather also reported arrival of North Maple District signs and ongoing web and press-release preparations.
The commission completed routine business (approval of minutes) and adjourned. Next steps: staff will circulate the final press-release link, proceed with yard-sign ordering contingent on numbers, and the chair will collect nomination names for a replacement for outgoing member Will Rotherbush.
