Several commissioners spoke in support, citing her government law experience, community ties and supervisory experience in the county attorney’s office.
The motion instructed staff to prepare an employment agreement for board consideration at a subsequent meeting. Several commissioners noted the advantage of appointing an internal candidate to enable a smoother transition and to avoid a protracted external search.
The motion passed on a recorded vote (8–0; one commissioner indicated verbal support but was absent). County attorney’s office and the county auditor were directed to prepare the employment agreement and bring it back for board approval at an upcoming meeting.
