At its March 24 meeting, the Richfield City Council fixed an administrative appointment error and approved two appointments.
Council Member Hayford O'Leary said staff had made an administrative error that led to the appointment of the incorrect alternate to the Advisory Board of Health at the March 10 meeting. He moved to remove the incorrectly appointed alternate and to approve the appointment of Eric Porter as Advisory Board of Health commissioner. "So apologies to mister Porter and mister Peterson, and we're glad to get this straightened out," O'Leary said.
The council voted by voice to remove the alternate and approved Eric Porter to serve on the Advisory Board of Health for a term commencing March 24, 2026 and expiring Jan. 31, 2027.
In a related action, Council Member Coleman Woods moved to appoint Jacob Peterson to a vacant seat on the Planning Commission. The appointment was seconded and approved by voice vote; Peterson's planning commission term will expire Jan. 31, 2027.
Council members thanked both appointees for agreeing to serve. City Manager Rodriguez earlier noted that staff had confirmed the mistake did not affect meeting quorums and that neither commissioner had participated in or voted in meetings pending the corrections.
These actions were approved during the "other business" portion of the meeting and recorded as council motions and voice votes.
