Clifton Heights Borough Council approved a resolution to establish a borough-controlled Venmo account to collect donations for July 4 celebration activities.
Manager Jones told council the resolution would place receipts in the borough’s recreation fund and limit withdrawal authority to the recreation lead (Stella) and the borough’s three financial officers. “The only thing on that account is the only person who can take the money out would be Stella as well as the 3 financial officers of the borough,” Jones said, explaining internal controls.
Jones said the parade and fireworks committee had already raised about $15,000 and that the Venmo arrangement would formalize donation handling and permit online permit-style payments. Council voted to authorize the Venmo account (Resolution 2026‑03) and directed the manager to report on accounting procedures and reconciliation.
The new account is intended to route online and mobile donations directly into borough accounts and the recreation fund; staff said transaction fees for credit-card processing would apply.
