The Moreno Valley Planning Commission on May 26 voted to recommend that City Council approve the vacation of a narrow strip of Alessandro/Alessandra Boulevard west of Moreno Beach Drive, adopting a resolution that finds the proposed street vacation in conformance with the general plan and exempt from CEQA.
Principal engineer Larry Gonzalez presented the staff report recommending adoption of Resolution 2026‑03 to vacate a roughly 5‑foot‑wide strip totaling about 835 square feet and return the vacated area to the underlying property owner. Staff said the change reduces city maintenance obligations and is consistent with the city's circulation plan, noting that the existing right of way is 60 feet and the proposed right of way after vacation would be 55 feet, which matches the divided arterial designation for the corridor.
The commission opened the public hearing at 6:39 p.m.; no members of the public had requested to speak. A commissioner moved and the commission voted by roll call to recommend approval to City Council. Staff said the Planning Commission’s recommendation will be agendized for an upcoming City Council meeting.
The commission approved the action subject to legal and plat descriptions in the resolution's exhibits. Further scheduling and final approval will occur at the City Council level.
