Board hears bus-purchase plans and route changes ahead of elementary consolidation; board approves consent items and moves into executive session on personnel

Chad, who briefed trustees on transportation, outlined a proposed bus purchase and route revisions related to an upcoming elementary consolidation. "Just basically, the what you see before you is Alex out here for 5 purchases. 3 will be 77 passenger buses. 1 will be a, 59 passenger ..." Chad said, adding the district will phase some older buses into spares and retire five active vehicles.

Transportation staff explained the consolidation will move the elementary runs to a two-run daily system and that the change requires placing 14 drivers on transfer status so routes can be revised and rebid; current drivers were offered priority bidding on revised routes. Chad described a schedule with morning high-school/middle-school runs beginning between 5:15 and 6 a.m., a later elementary run around 8:30 a.m., and afternoon elementary pickups concluding by about 4:15 p.m.

Trustees also discussed technology purchases: staff proposed an iPad lease-purchase to replace older devices, structured as a two-year lease-purchase with approximately 3% interest and payments split across fiscal years so replacements can be distributed sooner. "This is actually a lease purchase ... I'll pay half of this this year and the other half next year," the presenter said.

During the meeting the board recorded several motions and voice votes on purchases, the consent calendar (trip requests 3028–3032) and other routine items; the chair announced 'Aye' responses and stated "Motion carries" for these items.

As personnel items were discussed—particularly staffing changes tied to busing—the chair moved the board into executive session to address personnel matters; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote with trustees indicating assent.

No substantive outcomes from the executive session were announced at the public meeting’s close.
