Committee approves streamlined Zarc façade grant application; map and funding limits unchanged

The Town of Zionsville Design Review Committee approved an amended program summary and application for the Zarc façade grant at its March 10, 2026 meeting.
Chair (S1) said the document was shortened to remove repetition and overly prescriptive language and that the town legal wording was standardized. The committee agreed not to change the program boundary; Chair (S1) confirmed the map remains the same and does not include South Village or extend past the creek. Chair (S1) also said the program excludes 1- and 2-family dwellings and is limited to commercial and business uses.
Committee member (S2) said the shorter application is "a little more approachable" and could encourage potential applicants to start a conversation with the committee rather than being deterred by a longer form. Chair (S1) credited town staff and specific individuals for multi-year work to clean up the document; Chair (S1) also noted that Tom Cassellini had reviewed and participated in revisions but was not present to vote.
Chair (S1) called for a motion to approve the amended materials; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Chair (S1) later announced that, through the town council, the committee is now an official Town of Zionsville committee and has $50,000 in food-and-beverage funds available per year for use.
No members of the public provided comment on the amended application during this meeting. The committee did not alter funding quantities: the $25,000 per-project limit and annual funding allocations remain as before.
