The Richfield City Council on March 10 approved allocation of the city's 2026 social-service funding, distributing $97,584 among seven nonprofit organizations after a competitive review.
Council Member Burke summarized the committee'recommended awards and the funding shortfall: seven proposals requested a total of $118,396; the available 2026 budget is $97,584. Awards as read into the record included Reach for Resources (formerly listed as Veil) awarded $4,000 of a $5,500 request; "Veep" awarded $30,000 (request and award); Senior Community Services awarded $10,000; Loaves and Fishes awarded $8,500 of a $10,000 request; The Family Partnership awarded $12,188 of a $30,000 request; Cornerstone Group awarded $22,896 of $22,896 requested; and Youable requested and was awarded $10,000.
City staff noted the program was budgeted during last year's process and that a resident-and-staff review committee considered service type, target populations and past performance in recommending awards. Council moved, seconded and approved the allocation and authorized the mayor and city manager to execute agreements with the selected nonprofits.
Mayor Mary Supple clarified that questions related to towing assistance (raised in open forum) would be addressed in the city manager's report and were not part of this motion.
