Hamilton County Council un-tables $2.5 million parks request, approves Hazelville property purchase and tourism grants

The Hamilton County Council on April 1 un-tabled a parks fund request for $2,500,000 and approved the appropriation after a motion and second.
Council President Ken Alexander said he had met with the parks director and the parks board president and that they pledged to manage project lettings so the parks’ cash balance would not fall below a half-year reserve. "We went over what our financial consultant is asking for us, which means we're asking of them, which is to keep half their property half a year's property tax in a cash balance," Alexander said.
The council also approved Resolution 04-1-2026 authorizing the purchase of real estate on 146 in Hazelville Parkway by voice vote following a motion and second. No additional public comment was recorded at the hearing on the resolution.
Separately, the council approved tourism-related disbursements: $500,000 to the Hamilton County Airport Authority, $500,000 to Connor Prairie and $250,000 to the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. Each allocation passed by voice vote after a motion and second.
The council handled these items during its regular business calendar and did not attach special conditions to the tourism disbursements in the meeting record. The president closed regular business and moved on to a public hearing on additional appropriations.
