Basalt staff announces Cliff's Hillside Park contract, bridge closure and staff transition

Staff reported selection of a design-build team and a draft contract for Cliff's Hillside Park to go to town council, a short bridge closure for railing replacement, progress on land-use code updates, a lease for a youth empowerment space and that a long-serving staff member is leaving for a new community development position in Snowmass.
During commissioner comments at the March 17 meeting, staff provided multiple community updates and schedule notes for the coming weeks.
Staff said the town had chosen a proposer for the Cliff's Hillside Park upgrade and had a draft design-build contract that will be on the town council agenda next Tuesday. "We have chosen a proposer for the upgrade and renovation to Cliff's Hillside Park... and we have a draft contract, which will be in front of town council next Tuesday," Carlton Henry said.
Staff also announced a brief closure of the bridge behind 711 for railing replacement with an expected closure on March 23 and noted work is proceeding on a land-use code update that will return to the commission for additional review. Other items included a call for artists for Willits sculptures, the summer concert series planning, BPAC grant awards and a lease signed for Tikah to operate a youth empowerment facility at 931 East Valley Road.
A long-serving staff member told commissioners this would be their last P&Z meeting before moving to Snowmass to take a community development director position in April. The commission offered congratulations and discussed the timing of upcoming meetings and the April 7 election day.
