Henry Ford College’s search team told trustees at the March 9 meeting that finalists for the college presidency will be on campus for full‑day visits and evening public town halls late March into early April, and that trustees should finalize interview questions ahead of those visits.
Miss Davis, the HFC representative, said all five finalists were confirmed but scheduling conflicts required pushing some interview days into the week of March 30 and into early April. She described a tight one‑day format that begins in the morning with constituent meetings and ends with an evening public town hall and a trustees’ interview, and said the college will provide a draft daily schedule for trustees to review.
Davis said trustees will be asked to submit a bank of consistent questions so every finalist receives the same set of core prompts; the college recommends limiting follow‑up questions to avoid bias across candidates. She also said that background checks will be provided to trustees prior to deliberations when possible and that the search team will collect community feedback via QR codes at public sessions.
Trustees discussed livestreaming recorded interviews as a way for any trustee unavailable in person to watch interviews in near real time; Davis said the college will try to accommodate recording and asked trustees to be prepared to finalize the interview schedule so travel and logistics can be confirmed. Trustees also discussed timing of deliberation and contract negotiation after the interviews conclude.
