Board approves A/E contract and two change orders for 2021 bond projects

The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District Board of Education voted March 10 to award an architectural and engineering construction administration agreement to The Collaborative for multiple 2021 bond bid packages, and approved two separate change orders to increase underground stormwater detention capacity at Bates Elementary and Woodhaven Upper Elementary.
Board members were told the A/E services agreement resulted from a request-for-proposals process begun Dec. 2, 2025, that included three competitive bids and interviews with two finalists; the contract was described as not-to-exceed $500,000, made up of a $450,000 fixed fee and a $50,000 allowance for reimbursable expenses, with funding from the 2021 bond program budget.
The board also approved a $106,820.80 change order to Campo Brothers for Bates Elementary and a $315,789 change order to Best Asphalt for Woodhaven Upper Elementary to enlarge underground detention systems to meet current Wayne County stormwater management standards; the board was told funding will come from contingencies within the bond program and sufficient funds are available.
