The Plan Commission approved a site landscaping and architectural design review for a four-season enclosed "cabana" attached to the existing tavern known as 4th And Long at 8911 West National Avenue.
Jack and Emily (planning staff) explained the addition is an enclosed accessory structure placed over the existing outdoor patio to provide additional year-round seating and large glass openings. The structure uses a combination of shingles and EPDM flat roofing with metal accents; staff asked for details on exterior materials and a revised site and architectural plan showing bicycle parking, proposed bollards on the east side of the addition and permit submittals for any concrete or engineering work.
The applicant described intended service flow—an exterior serving area and connections to the kitchen—and said the cabana would be closed during limited hours on the lower level to control operations. The commission approved the design review with the standard conditions that building permits and revised plans be submitted and that the city forester and engineering departments review landscaping and hardscape as applicable.
