Hanover Area School Board honors February student of the month and winter/fall athletes

The Hanover Area School District Board of Education on March 10 recognized Ava Willis as the February student of the month and held awards for fall and winter athletic teams.
Principal John Sipper introduced Ava Willis and noted her multiple extracurricular roles and college plans. Ava told the board she participates in National Honor Society, Key Club, student council and several sports and community volunteer events and said, "I was focused on my own path... I am proud of who I've become." She thanked teachers, coaches and family for support.
Athletic director Ron Hunter opened a sequence of coach remarks honoring athletes from football, tennis, cross‑country, soccer, field hockey, golf, volleyball, basketball and wrestling. Football coach Eric Richardson said the program finished the season with 35 players and 22 being honored, and highlighted academic all‑star selections and senior Unico Game nominations for May 28 at Wilkes‑Barre Stadium. Coaches named individual all‑conference and district honorees across sports, and the field hockey coach noted the team received a state academic team recognition and a conference sportsmanship plaque.
Board members and the superintendent offered congratulations to student honorees and their coaches. The recognitions closed before the board moved on to routine business.
