Summary
City staff reported ongoing piling and excavation at the DeLong Agricultural transloading facility on CSX property adjacent to PMT, with additional excavation and contractor staging scheduled for early April; a federal maritime grant decision has been delayed by about two weeks.
City staff reported March 24 that construction activity is continuing at the DeLong Agricultural transloading facility on CSX property adjacent to PMT. Piling work is under way; additional excavation was scheduled to begin April 1 and contractors were due on site April 6 to stage equipment, staff said.
"The project is ongoing. Piling is ongoing. Additional excavation is scheduled to begin on April 1. The contractor's going to be on‑site April 6 to begin staging equipment," Charlie said.
On the funding side, staff said decisions from MARAD (Department of Transportation/Maritime Administration) or the Department of Commerce on grant awards have been slow and were postponed by another two weeks. The company continues to develop the site and staff will relay grant status once known, Charlie said.
No contract award or grant approval was announced at the meeting; staff said they will report updates as MARAD decisions are received.
