St. Francois County board approves consent agenda, awards annual bids and reappoints local board member

The St. Francois County Board of Commissioners approved its consent agenda and voted to award several annual county bids during its regular meeting. A commissioner moved to award annual bids covering offices including the circuit reporter, circuit judges, collector and JDC; the board discussed that different vendors won separate line items, notably low bids for stationery and ink cartridges, and voted to approve the awards.

Commissioners discussed publishing a bidder and winner list on the county website so prospective vendors and the public can see who bid and who won specific products and services. "Get with IT ... put a list of who bid and who won the bids," a commissioner said, urging staff to post the information to create a public record.

The board also voted to reappoint Chris Morrison to the SSC Development Lane disable board, per a motion from a commissioner and a subsequent vote. Chair called for the vote and members answered in the affirmative; the record shows the motion passed.

Clerk’s office provided an elections update and administrative reminders: the meeting heard that the first day for no-excuse early voting runs through April 6, the last day to receive mailed ballot applications is the 25th, and the final day to file as an official write-in candidate for the April ballot is the 27th. The clerk warned that roughly one-third of returned mail ballots lacked required signatures and therefore could not be counted.

The meeting concluded with routine departmental reports and an adjournment vote.
