Representatives of the Saint Charles Community Health Center presented health initiatives to the council on March 16, 2026. Ginti White, director of operations, introduced partners from the American Heart Association who outlined two incoming programs: an LP(a) blood‑test screening cohort and maternal health kits (including pregnancy‑validated blood pressure cuffs, infant CPR resources and bilingual materials) expected to be available beginning this week in Luling.
Danielle Barrios described a new diabetes prevention program recognized by the CDC: a 12‑month curriculum with 16 weekly sessions followed by monthly follow ups, using digital tracking tools and focusing on 5–7% weight loss, improved nutrition and at least 150 minutes of weekly activity. Barrios said the program is open to anyone with prediabetes or CDC high‑risk scores, not only clinic patients, and uses incentives such as premium access to a fitness tracker.
Council members received informational folders and were told the LP(a) and maternal‑kit resources will be rolled out in April. The health center emphasized that its services serve patients regardless of ability to pay and partner with school‑based wellness centers.
