Walled Lake sets 30-day deadline for DM Motors to complete site-plan submittal after delivery-truck safety complaints

Council members discussed long-running complaints about delivery trucks for DM Motors stopping in the middle of Maple Road and creating safety hazards. After Mayor Pro Tem Dennis O'Rourke and the mayor met with the business, the dealership agreed to load and unload at a neighboring parcel at 961 Decker beginning March 9 as an interim measure.
City staff told council that the neighboring parcel is currently being used for vehicle storage and that any ongoing use for loading/unloading must be included in a formal site-plan application. The city planner/attorney recommended a written letter giving the dealership a short deadline to submit a revised site plan so planning staff can move the proposal to the planning commission. Council directed staff to give the business 30 days to submit a revised site plan and warned that, if it fails to comply, the city could pursue circuit-court action or administrative complaints that could affect the dealer's state license.
