The Pocahontas County Board of Supervisors on March 24 approved claims totaling $306,461.39 and handled several routine administrative items, Auditor Nita Hinrickson reported.
The board acknowledged a $1.00-per-hour wage increase for the county's billing clerk and accepted the county farm report for 2025. Supervisor Peter Seehusen requested lease language be added to county farm leases requiring tenants to be residents of Pocahontas County; the board did not enact that change at the meeting.
Under Iowa Code section 427.1(22), the supervisors approved 2026 wetland applications for the Natural Conservation and Wildlife Acres property-tax exemption. Hinrickson also told the board that the Iowa State Association of Counties will stop in Pocahontas on April 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. as part of its '99 County' tour, and that Palo Alto has invited nearby counties to help create a maintenance checklist for anticipated federal funding documentation requirements.
The board listed regular committee assignments for supervisors and then adjourned by unanimous motion.
