Commission approves budget adjustment, consolidates road contracts and awards design and structure work

Kyle said consolidating projects and keeping design and construction administration with Houston Engineering (which is working on adjacent projects) will improve coordination and likely lead to better bids.
The commission voted on a formal motion to adjust the 2026 budget and then separately approved the related construction contracts; motions were carried by roll call. Commissioners agreed the approach makes the July 2027 budget presentation clearer by showing where funds will be used.
The contracts approved include Houston Engineering for design and construction administration on a roughly 4.5-mile regrade of County Road 6 and multiple structure-replacement contracts tied to the county's 2026 construction program and grant awards.
