Amanda Adams, Goochland County Clerk of Court, told the District 5 town hall the clerk’s office is promoting a Virginia deed-fraud notification system that lets residents register multiple name variants and their tax-map/PIN numbers to receive email alerts when deeds are recorded in the county.
Adams said brochures will be available in the courthouse lobby and that the county’s existing monthly transfer-notification reports can also help residents monitor property activity. She emphasized that county records remain open to the public and encouraged residents to visit the clerk’s office for searches and help.
Adams announced a probate seminar on April 24 for residents seeking guidance on wills and estate planning, and she invited the public to participate in the courthouse’s 200th-anniversary celebration Sept. 19, including a historic walk and a planned time capsule.
