Cabarrus Sheriff announces state law-enforcement accreditation, cites 100% evidence compliance

Sheriff Shaw (speaker 15) told the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners on March 16 that the sheriff's office had completed the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation process and passed a property and evidence inspection with 100% compliance.
"On this past Friday, March 13, we were awarded the North Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation for our agency," Sheriff Shaw said. He described the process as a two-year effort that required compliance with more than 116 standards, policy verification and on-site inspections.
Shaw introduced Captain Kevin Klingelsmith and Travis Zimmerman, the records-management and accreditation manager, and thanked staff and commissioners for support. He said assessors had offered few suggestions and praised staff for passing property and evidence inspections without exceptions.
The sheriff said work will continue on accrediting the 911 communications center and the detention center. Commissioners applauded the recognition from the dais and thanked the sheriff for staff efforts.
