Board honors winter athletes across sports; dozens of state qualifiers and national bids noted

"The winter season was another tremendous season," presenter Mister Mulore said, noting that "309 athletes competed" in winter sports and that multiple teams made playoffs. He and other coaches highlighted individual accomplishments: junior Katie Purcelli finished fourth at the state wrestling meet; the cheer team earned a national bid; and 22 student athletes qualified for state competition.
Coach Alex recognized the boys swimming program for a fourth‑place county finish, naming senior captain Dean Smith as an All‑State and All‑County honoree. Girls track coach Mike Austin described a historic season for his team, listing multiple league and county champions and noting that the 4x200 relay set a school record and several athletes qualified for states and nationals.
The board and superintendent praised coaches, families and participants, and the meeting closed the recognition segment with applause and appreciation for volunteers and athletic staff.
