Board members reviewed a summary of a 99-page capital improvement report prepared for the district and asked staff to make the full document available for in-person review. Facilities items discussed included replacement of VCT flooring, a multipurpose-room door scheduled for this year and an assessment of a cracked gym wall.
"The full report is 99 pages," Superintendent Ellen said while describing the summary the board received. Members asked the facilities director's recommendations be highlighted and requested clearer prioritization buckets — what must be done this fiscal year versus what can wait.
Board members said many recommended items are preventive maintenance that can be phased over several years with minimal outsourcing. They discussed whether certain improvements (LED lighting was raised as an example) remain cost-effective given recent estimates. Several board members suggested the April meeting or the next committee meeting include a prioritized list of items that can be accomplished within available funds.
Administrators said the district would provide hard copies of the full report on request and would work with the facilities director to produce a recommended timeline and a proposed prioritization for board review.
