A commissioner announced that the county’s community-space project on the former jail site north of the courthouse will be named "Riverside Commons." He said county employees participated in an internal poll that received 179 votes: Riverside Commons (69), Wabash Commons (57) and Riverside Green (53).
The commissioner said the site, which has been cleared of the old jail structure, will be converted to community space. He thanked employees for participating in the naming poll and said county staff will select signage and titles for the new space as the project continues.
No formal public-renaming action or budget item for signage was taken during the meeting.
