Until the clerk finishes validation, staff said the new ordinance is not in effect and the township is operating under the previous zoning rules. The clerk's verification process will determine whether the referendum qualifies.
Board members discussed some of the reasons petitioners opposed parts of the ordinance — including concerns that the village rules limit certain drive-through or large-apartment uses — and noted this is one reason they are publishing FAQs and timeline materials on the township project page.
The board did not take formal action at this meeting on the ordinance; staff will provide an update once the clerk completes signature verification.
