During the call to the public, a Fountain Hills resident said frequent private‑plane and helicopter flights over residential areas around the fountain have produced sustained noise and safety worries and asked the town to pursue options to reduce overflights.
William Corolli, who identified himself as a Fountain Hills resident since 2010, described repeated flights and said the activity originates in part from multiple flight schools operating out of Mesa. "Every single minute, daytime, nighttime, weekdays, weekend, above the fountain is to fly private jets and helicopters… So it's been really, really extremely stressful," Corolli said, adding that a small‑plane crash near homes illustrates the risk.
Town staff said they have contacted flight schools and the city of Mesa; staff reported limited cooperation from Mesa and noted the Federal Aviation Administration controls flight paths. Council members said the town can raise concerns with the FAA's FISDO office and the meeting record recommended agendizing the issue for further council direction.
The council did not take action at the meeting but staff said they will explore further options and suggested returning the matter to a future agenda for directed discussion.
