The court also heard a request from local fire leadership to add Derrick's name to the county line-of-duty memorial outside the courthouse. Justin Hargrove, identifying himself as a local volunteer fire department chief, said Don Brewer of Sulphur Springs provided the low bid of $150 for the memorial update; the court unanimously approved funding the $150 update.
Separately, Jacqueline Harrison, regional chief financial officer for CHRISTUS Health, requested the court's approval of a resolution to allow a Tarrant County Cultural Education Facilities Finance Corporation bond issuance related to CHRISTUS's proposed purchase of TRMC. Harrison told the court there is no county liability associated with the tax-exempt issuance; the court approved the resolution.
The court offered condolences to Derrick's family and thanked public-safety personnel for their service; the memorial update will proceed under the county's procurement process.
