Madison 'City zoning staff proposed a proactive rezoning project to convert many single- and two-family planned developments (PDs) on fee-simple lots into conventional zoning districts, a change they said would simplify homeowner permitting and shorten review times.
Katie Vanna, zoning administrator, told the Plan Commission the project focuses on PDs created under older zoning codes that now create inconsistent and lengthy review experiences for owners. "PDs are these custom zoning districts... they were common in the 1970s and 1980s," Vanna said.
