Folsom council approves two-year BrightView landscape contract amendment

The Folsom City Council on March 10 approved resolution 11559 to authorize Amendment No. 2 to the city's landscape maintenance agreement with BrightView Landscape Services.
Derek Krys, municipal landscape services manager, told the council the amendment adds newly developed assets in multiple Landscape & Lighting (L&L) districts and Community Facilities Districts (CFDs). He said the additions include more than 15 acres of streetscape in CFD 18 and roughly six miles of bike trail that have been added since 2023. The amendment would extend the current agreement for two years and includes a 3% escalator applied only to the monthly base cost. "With the remaining two-year extension as seen here, the escalator is only multiplied on the monthly base," Krys said.
Krys also noted staff view this as "the last extension" of the current contract and plan to issue a request for proposals (RFP) in 2027. No council questions were raised during the presentation; a council member moved approval and the resolution passed on a roll-call vote.
The staff presentation included a timeline of the original award (June 14, 2022) and a prior amendment (September 26, 2023), a spreadsheet of monthly and projected annual costs, and maps showing the CFD boundaries and added amenities. The amendment text shown to council assigns maintenance responsibilities for built amenities in American River Canyon North (No. 2 and No. 3) and Willow Springs areas and incorporates specific CFD 18 and CFD 23 assets.
Council approved the resolution by roll call; staff will implement the contract amendment and prepare for an RFP in 2027 as planned.
