Jefferson County zoning officials approved a rezoning/variance at their April 2 meeting to allow an early childhood learning facility to operate in an existing church building after staff recommended approval.
Staff described the property as a church constructed around 1950 on approximately 0.17 acres, currently zoned R-6 single family. Because the proposed school would not be an accessory use to the church and involves a partner organization, staff said a rezoning to institutional was required and the applicants had filed to expedite zoning approval as they pursue state licensure. Staff recommended approval of case 8260003.
Staff reported there was no public opposition on the record. A board member moved to approve the rezoning/variance and the board voted in favor; the chair announced the variance had been granted.
The board also approved minutes from a prior meeting by voice vote and adjourned. The staff recommendation and the board’s approval allow the applicants to proceed with licensing steps and any building or permitting processes required by Jefferson County and state regulators.
