Thousands attended the Bakersfield Job Fest held March 11 at the Dignity Health Convention Center to meet employers and apply for open positions.
A Department of Human Services official said the event organizes information about who is hiring and brings employers together for hiring on the spot. "We have over a 140 employers here. Over 2,000 hiring positions. Like, they can hire you today on the spot," the official said.
The Job Fest also offered workshops, resume and application support, professional clothing provided by Dress for Success, and free headshots courtesy of student volunteers, organizers said. The host noted that the Job Fest has served for more than a decade to connect local talent with employers and that additional events are planned in Lamont, Lake Isabella, Shafter and Delano.
