The Bell Gardens City Council convened a closed-session meeting on March 23, 2026, opened public participation for closed-session agenda items and received no public comment before recessing to a closed session.
At about 5:15 p.m., a presiding official opened the livestreamed meeting and asked the city clerk to conduct roll call. The clerk announced that Councilmember Barcena would be excused unless there were objections and recorded Councilmember Travis, Councilwoman Sanchez, Mayor Pro Tem Guillen and Mayor De La Rosa as present. The clerk said, “We didn't receive any public comment on closed session, written comments or any public comment cards, and we don't have anyone raising their hands virtually.”
The presiding official stated there was no objection to closing public participation and moved to the items listed on the agenda. The city attorney then announced the council would recess into closed session to discuss the matters identified on the agenda and noted the time as 5:15 p.m. The presiding official later indicated the council would reconvene to open session at 6:00 p.m. or soon after and that the city attorney would report back when the meeting returned to open session.
No votes on ordinances, resolutions or other substantive items were recorded in the transcript for this session. The clerk recorded no public comments for the closed-session items.
