The Sylvania Board of Education spent the opening portion of its March 16 meeting recognizing students and coaches for recent achievements.
Superintendent Dr. Motley called up members of the Southview High School Cougarets dance team and presented certificates noting state competition placements (third in hip hop, fourth in pom, fifth in jazz). Dr. Motley also commended students who performed with the Ohio Music Education Association All-State Children's Chorus and invited parents to join students for photos after certificates were given.
The superintendent specifically thanked coach Paige and assistant coach Kelly, and presented a team certificate to the coaches. Dozens of students were named and congratulated during the recognition; Dr. Motley encouraged community members to view the State of the Schools video on the district website for additional information about district programs and accomplishments.
The recognitions were approved by the board as agenda item 3.1 on a motion and roll-call vote.
