Council accepts low bid for Ray Street storm-sewer work, award pending engineer and solicitor review

Public works staff opened the bid packages and identified an apparent low bidder, 3 D Development, at $38,773. A motion to accept the low bid was made and seconded with the resolution stating the award is "pending review and approval of city solicitor and Widmer Engineering" and that funds will come from an LSA grant.
Council members voted to accept the bid. The chair emphasized that any award would require approvals from the city engineer and solicitor before a contract is executed. "There is an apparent low bidder, so any award should be based on approval from a city engineer and city solicitor after review," the moderator said.
Council thanked the contractors for submitting bids — officials said an unusually high number of contractors downloaded the bid package — and noted that the project scope is limited to trench-line restoration (not full roadway repaving) though future paving could follow. No contract was signed at the meeting; staff and the solicitor will complete required reviews before issuing a notice of award.
