Nelson County Schools rolls out ParentSquare website to centralize communications

Grace, the district's family communicator coordinator, demonstrated a new ParentSquare-powered website for Nelson County Schools at the March 17 board meeting, telling members the platform offers integrated communications, quick links and an archive of weekly communications.
Grace said the site is designed to be "more pleasing, more welcoming" and to surface commonly used items (calendar, state mandates, nutrition menus, school home pages) one click from the home screen. She asked board members to scan a QR code to view the site and demonstrated features that allow families to access weekly communications and the district's "NCES Promise" material. She also described a messaging workflow that routes incoming messages through ParentSquare to reduce exposure of staff email addresses and limit spam.
Board reaction: Members praised the improved usability. One board member said the new layout is "a lot better than when I first started," and multiple members thanked Grace for the work she has done since she began improving the site in September.
What’s next: Grace and the technology team said the site is a living product and will be updated regularly; staff will continue to refine quick links, test the message routing and incorporate student and staff feedback ahead of broader promotion to families.
